Hang Loose Sailing is a Not for Profit program offering sailing experiences
for those living with PTSD, Anxiety or Depression

We receive referrals from a range of health professionals and health service providers. Our focus is on supporting those who are impacted by mental illness such as PTSD, depression and anxiety. We also welcome carers, partners, those bereaved by suicide and those impacted by trauma such as Veterans, Defence Personal, First Responders and Nurses, who can hear from our experienced sailor Brad on how sailing has changed his life!

Here at Hang Loose Sailing we offer some time out for those living with PTSD, depression, and anxiety, as well as anyone seeking a gentle sail or hands on adventure across Lake Macquarie, with a two-hour sail aboard SV Bacchus - a 26' (8m) Sonata yacht.
Your experience with us can either be a hands-on sail or simply timeout, to relax and take in all of the beauty that Lake Macquarie has to offer.
We've partnered with the Lake Macquarie & Newcastle Suicide Prevention Network to connect our services to those who need support, understanding and time to relax, connect, escape and enjoy a memorable experience sailing.
At Hang Loose Sailing, we envision a community where everyone has access to the joy and thrill of sailing. We aim to make sailing more accessible to those who are affected by PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
At Hang Loose Sailing, we believe that sailing is more than just a lifestyle – it's a passion. We are proud to be a part of the sailing community and to support health providers.
